How to use TweetDeck for Twitter Chats

If you have ever wanted to be part of a Twitter chat but had a difficult time following along and feeling as though you were part of the chat, try Tweetdeck.

Beth Houf mentioned this during Monday night's #tlp (Teach Like a Pirate) Twitter chat as it sparked the idea for this blog post.

When you open up Tweetdeck follow these steps:

  • Select Add Column
  • Select User and add the user that is hosting the chat
  • Select Search and add the hashtag (in the example I use in the video it is #tlp (Teach like a Pirate)
  • Last, select @Mentions. These are tweets that include your Twitter handle. You will see who is directly addressing you. You can remove re-tweets from this screen by using the button at the top right to toggle re-tweets on and off.
Embedded below is a 1 minute and 25 second YouTube tutorial.

Take care,

Brad
